With Deepti Sharma taking the reins as captain, the team is ready to face Gujarat Giants (GG) on February 16 and Delhi Capitals (DC) on February 19 at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara.

Deepti Sharma Excited for Captaincy Role

Deepti Sharma, India’s highest wicket-taker in women’s T20Is, expressed her enthusiasm about leading the side. “I’m really excited about this opportunity. Being entrusted with captaincy is a proud moment, and I believe our team has the potential to achieve great things this season,” she said.

Having previously led her state team, Deepti is confident in handling leadership responsibilities at the WPL level. “It’s a different experience from just being a senior player, but I love taking on challenges. I’m looking forward to leading UPW and making this season memorable,” she added.

UP Warriorz to Play First Home Games in Lucknow

For the first time in WPL history, UP Warriorz will play on home soil at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The team will face GG (March 3), MI (March 6), and RCB (March 8) in front of their passionate fans.

Deepti shared her excitement about playing in front of a home crowd: “The fans in Uttar Pradesh have always supported us, but this time, we get to experience their energy live at the stadium. We can’t wait to play in Lucknow and make our supporters proud.”
