Dinesh Karthik from Indian Cricket Team, addressed a press conference at Central Broward Park, Florida ahead of the 4th T20I against West Indies.

DK what's the one thing or one thing about one facet of your game that you've changed which you wish you had done earlier in your career?

Power hitting, I think that's something I worked on so I wish I had done that a little earlier in my career as well but for the moment it's going good.

How do you feel as a batter when you get a solid backing from the team management to excel in the finisher's role and becoming the most one of the most reliable players in the team?

Extremely happy I think this is what I’ve aimed for all my life and for the captain and coach to show so much belief in me it is only fair that I repay the faith back in them by giving to performances which will help the team in many ways cross the line and that is what I’ve been trying to do and I’ve been this is a you know one of the happiest that I’ve been part of the Indian team with the amount of love and affection that I’ve got not only from the team from the fans but also the backing from the platform and the coach.

As a finisher there could be days where all goes well as for plan when it just does what doesn't work as expected how do you manage to overcome the lows?

I think finisher role is one such that it's very hard to be consistent but every time you get in you should be able to make an impact that will help the team obviously do something special on that given day that's what I try to focus on so you know there are a lot of factors that could actually make it tougher for you especially in the Caribbean and Miami I think wind will be a massive factor even though it is a sport which is played at the heavy ball a lot of the times the wind dictates where you play the shots because it tends to carry to the fielders and not cross the boundary line on the other hand the other side it helps you create I mean clear you know make you hit bigger sixes than what you've hit actually so it works both ways but the bowlers are clever they always want to try and force you into hitting into the wind as much as possible so that that makes it that much tougher as a batsman so sometimes you know when you're trying to manufacture shots you might not get it right on a given day but there are days when you get it right and those days you should make it count.

You've managed to ace the finisher's role this year but looking at how you have kept performing does that add more pressure because of the expectations that everyone has from you?

I think pressure is a privilege at this point of time as a cricketer as a sports person it is something that is given to only when you're playing at the highest level and when you and when people expect certain things out of this so I’m happy I think what's important is you know making sure that on a given day what the math situation is reading the game and trying to give the best on that given day.

The grounds the series have posed a great challenge win factor in St. kits one short side in Trinidad and now this will be a smaller ground in Florida how helpful has it been to deal with different challenges here as a batter in the lead up to the t20 world cup?

I think it's very interesting because even world cup you know if you straight away the three grounds that come to my mind Sydney sides are slightly smaller the straights are longer Adelaide we all know the sides are very small again the straights are long whereas in Melbourne it's the exact opposite the straights are short the sides are very big so obviously we're going to be encountering different grounds and you know wherever we're going to be playing so the challenges are going to be different here again the challenges are different in every venue that you have played so the fact that every time you get an opportunity there is a certain challenge that comes in with just walking in is pressure by itself so it gives us an one of the key things that Rohit and Rahul has spoken about although I’ve spoken about in this series at the start was adaptability understanding the situations and I think that is something we have done pretty well so far.

How is the vibe in the team especially because a lot of players have been telling that you know this is a very relaxed and casual kind of vibe and players feel very very secure in this environment as well so how important is that particular environment leading up to the world cup?

I think you know I’ve said it a lot and I’ll keep saying it is one of the best environments I’ve been in a team atmosphere because of the consistency and continuity they seem to be giving players they're not judged on an everyday basis they're given a certain time limit and they're given the opportunity to fail I think that's very important to give players the opportunity to fail and then move on to the next player because in India right now there are so many players and when you keep and general tendencies to always feel that the one playing is always better than the one who's played the game but here you get the feeling that you get value for what you've achieved over a period of time value for the kind of cricket that you bring to the table and that is something that needs to be respected with this coaching staff I think a lot of credit to Vikram rathor parish Bombay, Rahul Dravid for having that mind set wherein they don't get carried away by good looking players they're able to understand what a player must have gone through on a given day to give a failure and back them and have the right conversation with them so that they can get the right con they can get the right performance and write potential out of any given player I think that is a very important facet to any team the best of teams in any sport has always maximized their talent and I think that is one thing this current Indian team is definitely doing well

India 2-1 up in the series how important is this 40-20 international you know for India to close out a series with a win?

Ideally we would like to close out the series with the win interestingly we all know how good West Indies is as well but having said that I feel one of the key things that's been told to us is the fact that when we went to St. kits the first game we probably didn't adapt to the condition as quick as we would want but here in Miami we're going to try and make an effort to obviously try and play and understand the conditions and then the situation and then try and put up a good performance here.

India outstanding and bilateral series what has been the key there and for the t20 world cup what is needed for India to clinch that championship?

I think there is no one thing to clinch you need a lot of things that that needs to be done and I think the process is set right in terms of batting the intent bowling the execution and on top of that you do need a little bit of luck when you go to multi-nation tournaments because on any given day you just you know you need a certain amount of luck to get you through to you know help you just cross the line in T20s and I think that plays a small factor as well but if the honest if the effort is very honest the preparation is very complete and you then give yourself the best chance of success in multinational tournaments

What is quite competitive many would say arguably about 12 or 15 for the world cup and I’ve been looked at how tough you think it is?

Look right now in the Indian team I think we have the potential to put out two teams or maybe even three teams in terms of the number of players available I don't think many countries can boast of that so to get you know just 15 players playing from about a good lot of 40 players there are going to be 20 25 players they're going to think that geez I could have made that team that's how strong this current Indian team is on the other hand I think players who are part of the 15 should be grateful and realize how important and how beautiful it is to be part of this team India and how proud we should be just representing our country on a world stage when there is so much competition so I think we are we are trying really hard our efforts are good and we will definitely you know the selectors have a tough job on hand but we as players will definitely try and do everything we can to you know make team India proud.

Zimbabwe comes up then Asian cup what's the mind sets of the other of the organizations?

They have to understand that Zimbabwe is a completely different team that is going so you know there's a lot of players are very different Asia cup will be very different as well there'll be a short quick turnaround and then we have a few matches post that so for now our aim is to obviously build up to the world cup but at the start the first step is to make sure we do well in Asia.
