In the previous article we discussed the best knocks of the batsmen in the complete IPL series so far. As important as both sides of a coin are, the bowlers have to compensate and play as well as the batsmen in the game of cricket. The contribution of these two is very important for the success of a team.

But we will only discuss the batsmen who have played aggressively in every match. We do not discuss much about the bowler who gave his full contribution in that match and fought for the team's victory. Teams have won many matches through the skilful bowling of the bowlers.

There are so many best bowling performances from the bowlers in the IPL history. But today in this article we are going to only discuss the greatest bowling performances from the bowlers in the IPL right from the 2018 to till now.

 

Sohail Tanvir - 6/14 against Chennai super kings in 4th May,2008:

Pakistan players played in 2008, the first year of the IPL series. Sohail Tanvir, a Pakistani fast bowler played for the Rajasthan Royals that year. Chennai and Rajasthan Royals clashed in the league series. Batting first, Chennai scored only 109 runs for the loss of 10 wickets.

Sohail Tanvir single handedly turned the Chennai team upside down. He threw 4 overs in that match and gave up only 14 runs and took 6 wickets. Sohail Tanvir has been the owner of the best bowling figure in the history of the IPL for 11 years. And coming to the match Rajasthan won by 8 wickets in the 15th over.

Rajasthan Royals won the IPL series (first IPL Trophy) that year. Sohail Tanvir, who played 11 matches in that series, took a total of twenty-two wickets and won the purple cap (first purple cap holder in IPL history).

 

Adam zampa 6/14 against rising pune supergiants in 10th May,2016

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergiants clashed in the league match of the 2016 IPL series. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 133 for 8 in 20 overs.The thing to note here is that Adam Zamba took 8 wickets for 6 wickets. Zampa, who played for Pune bowled 4 overs in the match and took 6 wickets for 19 runs.

However, at the end of the match, Hyderabad beat Pune by 4 runs.Adam Zamba is still proud to have bowled so well in a losing match in the history of the IPL. Adam Zampa is also the owner of the third best bowling figure in the history of the IPL.

 

Kagiso Rabada - Super over specialist

First incident:

Kolkata and Delhi played their league match in 2019. Kolkata batted first and scored 185 runs in 20 overs.The Delhi team then went on to score the same 185 runs in 20 overs. Then the super over that determined the victory was thrown.Playing first in the Super Over, the Delhi team scored only 10 off 6 balls.Rabada controlled the Kolkata team to seven runs with his magnificent bowling. At the end of the Super Over, Delhi won the match by 3 runs.

Second incident:

This time Delhi and Punjab clashed in the league match of the 2020 IPL series. Batting first Delhi scored 157 runs and then Punjab who played later scored the same 157 runs.The Super Over that determined the match was thrown.Playing first in the Super Over, Punjab were bowled out for 2 by Rabada's magnificent bowling. Then Delhi comfortably chased 3 runs in the first 2 balls itself.

With two clean wins in the two super over occasions, Rabada reminds the most successful bowler in the IPL history (in terms of super over).

 

Alzarri Joseph - 6/12 against sun risers Hyderabad in 6th April, 2019

As we have already discussed, Sohail Tanvir from Pakistan was the owner of the best bowling figure in IPL history for eleven years. But after this match, Alzaari Joseph advanced to the top beating Sohail Tanvir.

Batting first, Mumbai scored only 136 runs. The Hyderabad team which played later could not compensate for Joseph's pace and rolled to just 96 runs. In that match, Joseph bowled 3.4 overs and gave up only 12 runs and took 6 wickets. Alzaari Joseph has been the owner of the best bowling Figure in IPL history for Mumbai since that match.

 

Anil Kumble - 5/5 against Rajasthan Royals in 18th April,2009

We have seen Anil Kumble take a lot of fifer in Test matches. He has also taken fifer once in an IPL match and it was during this match. Bangalore who batted first in the match scored 133 runs Rajasthan Royals who played after that, were bowled out for 58 by Anil Kumble's Mysterious spin.

He threw 3.1 overs in that match and took 5 wickets giving only 5 runs. He also bowled one maiden over respectively. Anil Kumble's bowling economy was only 1.57 in that match. Anil Kumble is the only player in the history of IPL series to have such a low bowling economy on the list of players with the best bowling figures.

 

Ishanth Sharma - 5/12 against Kochi tuskers Kerala in 27th April, 2011

The Deccan team which batted first in the match scored only 129 runs. Everyone believed that the Kochi team would definitely win because they had stellar players like Brendon McCullum, Mahela Jayawardene, Parthiv Patel and Brad Hodge.

But Ishant Sharma showed his mettle in the match that day. His teammate Steyn bowled well in the match to take 3 wickets, while Ishant Sharma took 5 wickets and surprised everyone with his stellar bowling. He took 5 wickets for only 12 runs in 3 overs. Ishant Sharma is the 5th best bowling figure holder in the IPL history.

 

Lasith Malinga against Delhi Daredevils in 10th April, 2011

Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He took 170 wickets in 122 matches and is in first place. Everyone remembers Malinga' pinpoint Yorker balls. The Delhi team that batted first in the match scored only 95 runs. The most important reason for that is Malinga’s sharp pin point Yorker balls.

He threw 3.4 overs and gave up only 13 runs and took 5 wickets. He also bowled one maiden over respectively. Mumbai then won that match in the 17th over itself. Lasith Malinga is the sixth best bowling figure holder in the history of the IPL.

 

Harshal Patel - 5/27 against Mumbai Indians in 9th April, 2021

In 2013, Dwayne Bravo took 32 wickets in 18 matches, setting a new record for most wickets in a single year. His long-term record was equalled by Indian batsman Harshal Patel last year. Harshal Patel took 32 wickets in just 15 matches last year.

Mumbai who batted first in the match we are going to talk scored 159 runs. Harshal Patel who bowled well for Bangalore took 5 wickets for just 27 runs in 4 overs. A Hat-trick which is a dream for every bowler which was also fulfilled for harshal in this match. Bangalore won the match in a thrilling way during the last ball of the match by the margin of 2 wickets.

 

Mohammed Nabi - 4/11 against royal challengers Bangalore in 31st may, 2019

Hyderabad team fans will not forget the match so easily. Batting first Hyderabad scored 133 for 2 in 20 overs. Both the opening players David Warner and Johnny Barstow played well and scored hundreds.

While Bangalore were bowled out for just 113 runs. In the Hyderabad team in particular Mohammad Nabi bowled 4 overs and gave only 11 runs and took 4 wickets. With his precise bowling, he took the wickets of Parthiv patel, Simron Hetmyer, AB de Villiers and Sivam Dubey to turn the victory around for his team. At the end of the match, Hyderabad won by the huge victory margin of 118 runs.

 

Trio that thrashed royal challengers Bangalore in 23rd April, 2017

This is a match that Bangalore team fans want to forget or erase over. Batting first Kolkata scored only 131 runs in 20 overs. With the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Mandeep Singh, AB de Villiers and kedar Jadhav in action, everyone expected the match to be over in a few overs.

But Kolkata's fast bowlers Nathan Coulter Nile, Chris woakes and Colin de Grandhomme turned the victory around for Kolkata. All three bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets each. Due to that, Bangalore lost all their wickets for 49 runs. This is the lowest score by a team in the history of the IPL. All because of the above stated 3 fast bowlers respectively.
