The 2022 Tata IPL series has now reached a tumultuous stage.  Unlike the last few years, a total of 10 teams are participating and playing this year.  Only four of the 10 teams will qualify for the play - off stage at the end of the league series.  At present, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have almost qualified for the play - offs. Five teams are currently vying for the remaining two spots.

5 times Champion Mumbai Indians, 4 times Champion Chennai Super Kings and 1l2 times Champion Kolkata Knight Riders have been eliminated from the ongoing IPL. This year we are going to watch the play-off round which is not the strongest trio in the IPL series.

The kings who rule the kingdom are not always permanent. A king of yesterday, a king of today, a king of tomorrow, kings will continue to change.  But the crown there will always be permanent. Anyone who wears the crown can become king.

When it comes to the IPL series, it is not always the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings or Kolkata Knight Riders who have to claim the crown. There is no difference between a small team and a big team. Any team that has the talent can capture that crown anyday. That is what is currently happening in the current IPL series.

As I mentioned in the top, currently 5 teams are fighting for the third and  fourth spot. In this article we are going to discuss those five teams and Let’s also look at what those teams can do to finish third or fourth.

1.Rajasthan royals

Played 11 | Won - 7 ( NRR +0.326)

The Rajasthan Royals have played 11 matches and won 7 of them.  That team currently has a good net run rate.  It is enough for that team to win only one match to finish third or fourth. Also this team had one extra favour. Rajasthan Royals can also aim for the first or second spot by winning all the three matches.

Scenario to finish in 3rd or 4th - Only one Win Required

RR vs DC , RR vs LSG , RR vs CSK - only one win required is enough

Rajasthan royals are going to face Delhi capitals, Lucknow super Giants and Chennai super kings in their upcoming matches. In those three matches they have to win at least one match.

2.Royal challengers Bangalore :

Played 11 | Won - 6 ( NRR -0.444)

Although Royal Challengers Bangalore have played 11 matches and won 6, the team's run rate is far behind.  The team must win two matches by the largest run rate difference otherwise the team must win the remaining all three matches. Only by doing this can the team qualify for the play-off.

Scenario to finish in 3rd or 4th

RCB vs SRH , RCB vs PBKS , RCB vs GT - must win in all this three matches

Bangalore can qualify for the play-off round without any problems at the last minute, only if they win by a huge margin in their remaining matches.

3.Delhi capitals

Played 10 | Won - 5  ( NRR  +0.641)

The Delhi team has played 10 matches and won only 5 matches but the net run rate for that team is very high.  So it is enough for that team to win any three of the remaining 4 matches.

Scenario to finish in 3rd or 4th - three win required in four matches

DC vs CSK , DC vs RR , DC vs PBKS, DC vs MI - 3 must win required

Out of the remaining four matches, Delhi Capitals can qualify for third or fourth place by winning three matches. That team has a chance to advance to first or second place if they win, perhaps in the remaining four matches.

4.Sunrisers Hyderabad

Played 10 | Won - 5 ( NRR +0.325)

The Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad team are almost on the same level. Like Delhi, Hyderabad could advance to third or fourth place if they win three of the four matches they had left.

Scenario to finish in 3rd or 4th - three win required in four matches

SRH vs RCB , SRH vs KKR , SRH vs MI , SRH vs PBKS - 3 must win required

SRH can also have a chance of advancing to first or second place, if they win the remaining four matches.

5. Punjab Kings

Played 11 | Won - 5 ( NRR -0.231)

The Punjab Kings must win all the remaining three matches to qualify for the play - off. In those three matches, the Punjab team has to win by a huge run rate difference.  Only then will the Punjab team be able to retain third or fourth place.

Scenario to finish in 3rd or 4th - three must win required

PBKS vs RCB , PBKS vs DC , PBKS vs SRH - must win in all these three matches

Punjab can qualify for the play-offs only if they win by a huge margin the remaining matches they have left.
