That Day, When AB de Villiers cried and made millions cry,

India, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa qualified for the 2015 World Cup semi-finals. South Africa reached the semi-finals after eight years. They previously reached the semi finals in the 2007 world cup, respectively.

The first semi-final was held between New Zealand and South Africa.Match reduced to 43 overs per side.  Batting first, South Africa stumbled early on. They lost the wickets of both openers De Kock and Hasim Amala. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Bolt, who bowled very well throughout the series took both their wickets and kept the South African team under pressure.  With the loss of two wickets at the end of eight overs, the South African team struggled. Du plessis and Rilee Rossouw Both added the partnership of 113 runs for the third wicket. Unfortunately, Rossouw got out in the 27th over of the game and captain de Villiers joined hands with du Plessis. On one side Du plessis played calmly while on the other side captain De Villiers played his usual action game. Both added the partnership of 103 runs for the fourth wicket. Well settled Du Plessis lost his wicket after scoring 82 runs. Later on, David Miller and captain de Villiers combined and they just literally destroyed the kiwis bowling. They added the partnership of 55 runs from just 24 balls. This partnership helps team South Africa to boost up the team score. At the end of 43 overs South Africa scored 281/5. Captain De Villiers remained not out with 65*(48).

Now the team New Zealand's target was revised to 298 from 43 overs due to rain.

New Zealand's openers Brendon McCullum and Guptill duo used the power play overs very well. Both of them scored 71 runs as the first wicket partnership.Captain McCallum, who was playing aggressively after scoring 59 runs off 26 balls, lost his wicket. The New Zealand team felt pressure as Kane Williamson who came in later, got out after scoring just six runs.  Later Ross Taylor, started to play calmly along with Guptill.  Both Guptill and Ross Taylor lost their wickets in the middle overs. Due to their back-to-back wickets, the New Zealand team lost four wickets at the end of 22 overs and scored only 155 runs.  Grant Elliott and Anderson combined for the fifth wicket.Both of them played a bit relaxed in the beginning and then later they started accumulating runs.  Due to their excellent partnership, the scorecard of the New Zealand team gradually increased. At the end of the 38th over, Anderson(58)  lost his wicket. And now, New Zealand needs another 46 runs in the remaining just five overs to win.

Despite all the pressure Grand Elliot showed his action and took the New Zealand team to victory without feeling the slightest bit of nervousness. The New Zealand team needed 12 runs to win in the last 6 deliveries to win in that match. South Africa's best fast bowler Steyn comes in front to bowl that over. In that over Grant Elliott registered his team victory with a grant(d) six. Eventually for South Africa everything went wrong. Due to the poor fielding and some catch drops they literally lost the game once again in World Cup tournament. Elliott remained unbeaten with 84*(73). Elliott, actually a South African born who later played for the New Zealand team ended up the South Africans dream in that world cup. On the other side New Zealand qualified for the World Cup finals. Also to note down, this is the highest successful run Chase in World Cup knockout games.

South Africa have qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup four times and unfortunately they lost four times. South Africa looks like a team that is fair enough to win the World Cup trophy, but it is also a team that has failed to qualify for the finals even once till date. Legends like Ab de Villiers, Steyn are in the team today. And experienced players Morne Morkel, JP Duminy and Faf du plessis are even there. But they once again choked today. Ab De Villiers and Morkel can't resist the defeat and tears welled up in their eyes. Even the whole team was totally disappointed with this defeat.When it comes to the ICC tournament South Africa holds the tag "The Chokers".
