Jabalpur Royal Lions continued their impressive run in the MPL T20 Scindia Cup 2026 with a dominant 54-run victory over Malwa Stallions at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The star of the evening was wicketkeeper-batter Ajay Rohera, whose magnificent unbeaten century guided the Royal Lions to their third consecutive win of the tournament.

Rohera produced a batting masterclass under pressure, finishing with a sensational 130 not out from just 65 deliveries. His innings not only helped his side post a formidable total but also established the highest individual score of the season so far in the Madhya Pradesh League.

Ajay Rohera Rescues Royal Lions After Early Collapse

After being invited to bat first, Jabalpur Royal Lions got off to a positive start. Ajay Rohera and Arpit Gaud added 48 runs for the opening wicket and looked set to build a strong foundation.

However, the innings suffered a sudden setback as the Lions lost wickets in quick succession and slipped to 74 for 4. At that stage, Malwa Stallions appeared to have seized control of the contest.

Rohera had other plans.

Showing remarkable composure and maturity, the wicketkeeper-batter anchored the innings brilliantly. He first rebuilt the innings with Vedant Awasthi, who contributed a valuable 20 runs from 11 balls. Once settled, Rohera shifted gears and launched a stunning assault on the bowlers.

His unbeaten 130 included nine boundaries and nine towering sixes, showcasing his ability to combine power hitting with smart game awareness. Supported by Sanjog Nijjar's unbeaten 24 from 15 deliveries, Rohera guided the Royal Lions to an imposing total of 205 for 5 in 20 overs.

Malwa Stallions Struggle in the Chase

Chasing a challenging target of 206, Malwa Stallions needed a strong start but lost two early wickets with only 17 runs on the board.

Captain Ashutosh Sharma attempted to revive the innings with a fighting knock of 30 runs, while Saksham Purohit supported him during a promising 75-run partnership. The stand briefly raised hopes of a comeback.

However, Jabalpur's disciplined bowling attack ensured that momentum never shifted completely.

Every time the Stallions looked ready to accelerate, the Royal Lions struck back with crucial wickets. Akhil Nigote Yadav and Sachin Vishwakarma played a few aggressive strokes, but the required rate continued to climb.

Eventually, the pressure became too much as Malwa Stallions were bowled out for 151 in 18.4 overs.

Bowlers Back Up Rohera's Heroics

While Rohera rightly grabbed the headlines, the Royal Lions bowlers also played a significant role in sealing the victory.

Punit Datey delivered an outstanding spell, claiming 3 wickets for just 19 runs. Nayan Mewada also impressed with figures of 3 for 28, helping dismantle the Stallions batting lineup.

Their disciplined performance ensured that the massive target remained out of reach throughout the chase.

Rohera Focused on Team Success

After receiving praise for his memorable innings, Rohera emphasized the importance of playing for the team rather than personal milestones.

The wicketkeeper-batter explained that his role is to take responsibility and remain at the crease for as long as possible. According to him, strike rate is important, but contributing to victories remains the ultimate objective.

With three consecutive wins and key players performing consistently, Jabalpur Royal Lions have emerged as one of the strongest contenders in the MPL T20 Scindia Cup 2026. If Ajay Rohera continues this rich vein of form, the Lions will be difficult to stop in the coming matches.
