The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has officially announced its squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. The 16-member squad, led by Ricky Bhui, is set to represent the Andhra team in India's premier domestic cricket competition. The selection was made under the guidance of the Senior Men Selection Committee, as confirmed by Sana Sathish Babu, Hon. Secretary of the ACA.
In addition to the main squad, six players have been named as standbys:
The team will begin preparations for the season at a camp starting on 26th September 2024 at the RDT Stadium in Anantapur. All selected players and standbys are required to report by 25th September 2024 to ensure they are ready for the camp.
Ricky Bhui, a seasoned player from Visakhapatnam, will continue his captaincy role, having led the Andhra team previously. The experienced batter will be supported by SK Rasheed from Guntur, the vice-captain, along with wicketkeeper KS Bharat, who also brings solid leadership qualities.
The inclusion of prominent players like G H Vihari from East Godavari and Ashwin Hebber from Nellore is expected to bolster both the batting and bowling departments. The squad has a mix of youth and experience, promising to be a well-rounded team in this Ranji season.
The ACA has also confirmed the appointment of a highly qualified support staff team for the Ranji Trophy season. The staff is led by Tinu Yohannan, former Indian international cricketer, who has been appointed as the Head Coach. Yohannan’s experience is expected to bring a strategic edge to the team as they aim for success this season.
