In the first-ever Test match played in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by a margin of 10 wickets to record a historic triumph. Bangladesh bounced back from Pakistan's declaration of 448/6 for their first innings, scoring 565 to take a 117-run advantage. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh's bowling attack as Pakistan's batting collapsed for just 146 runs on the last day. Bangladesh achieved a noteworthy milestone in their cricket history when they successfully chased down the small target of 30 runs in just 6.3 overs.
A soggy outfield on the first day meant that only 41 overs could be bowled.
Pakistan began their innings, although the hosts were having trouble as a result of early breakthroughs by Bangladesh. They lost four wickets in the end on a flat pitch that did little to help the bowlers. The innings was steadied by Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, and Pakistan finished the day at 169/4.
After their early losses, Pakistan bounced back, as Rizwan and Shakeel both achieved century. With a remarkable knock, Mohammad Rizwan ended the day undefeated at 171. With 141 runs, Saud Shakeel made a substantial additional contribution.
In an effort to force a result in the match, Pakistan declared their first innings at 448/6.
Pakistan was under strain as Bangladesh controlled the day's first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim spearheaded the attack with a standout 191, aided by Mehidy Hasan (77) and Shadman Islam (93). Bangladesh finished the day with a score of 565, taking a dominating lead of 117 runs.
Day 4 saw Pakistan start their second innings late. Pakistan finished the day at 23/1 after losing an early wicket and remained trailed by 94 runs. As fissures began to show on the field, Pakistan was under pressure to salvage the match. Bangladesh won spectacularly by a margin of ten wickets.
Bangladesh won their first-ever Test match against Pakistan after they successfully chased down the target of 30 runs in just 6.3 overs without losing a wicket.
The historic triumph of Bangladesh and Pakistan's stunning collapse on the last day of the Test match will live on in history.
