Bengal T20 League Novus Royals Purulia Stay Unbeaten After Thrilling Win
The Bengal T20 League continues to deliver exciting contests, and Day 5 of Season 3 produced another memorable chapter as Novus Royals Purulia maintained their unbeaten run with a thrilling seven-wicket victory over Rashmi NES Medinipur Wizards. Meanwhile, Shrachi Rarh Tigers showcased their all-round strength to register a convincing win over Murshidabad Kings at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
With rain playing a major role throughout the day, players were forced to adapt quickly, but the quality of cricket remained high as teams battled for crucial points in one of Bengal's premier domestic T20 competitions.
Novus Royals Purulia Continue Winning Streak
The spotlight belonged to Novus Royals Purulia, who secured their third consecutive victory of the campaign. Heavy rain reduced their encounter against Medinipur Wizards to a six-over contest, turning the match into a high-pressure sprint.
Batting first, Medinipur Wizards posted a competitive 74/3 in their allotted six overs. Abhishek Das led the charge with an unbeaten 24 off 14 deliveries, while Aishik Patel contributed 22 from 13 balls. Subham Sarkar added valuable late runs with a quickfire 12 off just four deliveries.
Purulia's bowlers did well to prevent an even bigger total. Pritam Chakraborty, Pradipta Pramanik, and Mithilesh Das each claimed a wicket and kept the opposition under control despite the shortened format.
Chasing 75, Novus Royals Purulia displayed composure and attacking intent. Ankur Paul provided the perfect start with a blistering 30 off only 12 balls, putting immediate pressure on the Wizards' bowling attack. Pradipta Pramanik then finished the job with an unbeaten 19 from 10 deliveries as Purulia reached 75/3 in just 5.5 overs.
The victory strengthened their position in the standings and highlighted their ability to handle pressure situations effectively.
Rarh Tigers Dominate Murshidabad Kings
Earlier in the day, Shrachi Rarh Tigers produced a complete performance to defeat Murshidabad Kings by 59 runs via the DLS Method.
After being asked to bat first, Rarh Tigers posted an imposing 188/5 in their 20 overs. The innings was built around a well-crafted half-century from Shuvam Dey Sr, who scored 51 off 40 deliveries. He received excellent support from Sumit Nag, who blasted 37 off 22 balls, while Gaurav Singh Chauhan and Sumanta Gupta added quick contributions in the middle order.
Murshidabad bowlers Saksham Chaudhary and Nuruddin Mondal picked up two wickets each, but they struggled to contain the Tigers' aggressive batting lineup.
In response, Murshidabad Kings never gained momentum in the chase. Abhishek Raman fought hard with a 47-run knock, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Rarh Tigers' disciplined bowling attack, led by Rohit Kumar's impressive 3/8, ensured complete control of the contest.
Rahul Prasad claimed three wickets, while experienced all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed chipped in with two crucial dismissals. When rain interrupted play at 121/9 in 15.5 overs, Murshidabad were well behind the required rate, resulting in a comfortable DLS victory for the Tigers.
