CSK vs SRH IPL 2026 Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad Outclass Chennai Super Kings

Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a dominant batting performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in an important IPL 2026 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chasing a competitive target of 181, SRH completed the run chase in just 19 overs thanks to brilliant knocks from Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.

The match turned into another disappointing night for Chennai Super Kings, whose playoff hopes suffered a massive blow after failing to defend a strong total at home. Despite useful contributions from multiple batters, CSK bowlers struggled badly during the chase as SRH controlled the game in the second innings.

CSK started aggressively after being sent in to bat. Sanju Samson gave Chennai a flying start with a quickfire 27 runs off just 13 balls, helping the team race to 31 runs before the first wicket fell in only 2.3 overs. Urvil Patel continued the attacking approach with two sixes during his short but impactful innings.

Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis then stabilized the innings with an important middle-order partnership. Kartik scored 32 runs from 19 balls, while Brevis entertained the Chepauk crowd with a powerful 44-run knock that included four massive sixes. Their partnership helped Chennai cross the 150-run mark comfortably.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers made a strong comeback during the death overs. Pat Cummins once again showed his experience by dismissing Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Kartik Sharma. Sakib Hussain also picked up two important wickets and prevented CSK from reaching a 200-plus total.

Chennai Super Kings eventually finished with 180/7 in 20 overs. The final overs proved costly for CSK as wickets fell regularly. Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, and Prashant Veer all departed during the final phase, slowing down Chennai’s scoring momentum at a crucial stage.

During the chase, SRH lost Travis Head early after Mukesh Choudhary dismissed him in the third over. But Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan rebuilt the innings calmly and added important runs during the powerplay. SRH reached 45 runs in the first six overs and remained close to the required run rate throughout the chase.

The biggest turning point came through the sensational partnership between Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. The duo added 75 runs in just 41 deliveries and completely shifted the momentum towards Sunrisers Hyderabad. Klaasen smashed 47 runs off 26 balls with aggressive strokeplay, while Kishan anchored the innings perfectly from the other end.

Ishan Kishan played one of his finest knocks of IPL 2026, scoring 70 runs off 47 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. His fearless batting against spin and pace kept CSK bowlers under pressure continuously. Even after Klaasen’s dismissal, Kishan ensured SRH stayed in control before getting out in the 19th over.

Young batters Salil Arora and Smaran Ravichandran calmly completed the chase for SRH with six balls remaining. Sunrisers Hyderabad finished at 181/5 in 19 overs and secured two extremely valuable points in the playoff race.

For Chennai Super Kings, bowling remained the major concern once again. Mukesh Choudhary picked up two wickets, while Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, and Akeal Hosein claimed one wicket each. But CSK failed to stop the scoring flow during the middle overs where the match completely slipped away.

This victory has now strengthened Sunrisers Hyderabad’s position in the IPL 2026 points table, while Chennai Super Kings are facing serious pressure ahead of the final phase of the tournament. With players like Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen finding top form at the perfect time, SRH are becoming one of the most dangerous teams in IPL 2026.
