Gurnoor Brar Credits India A Experience for Strong Start to International Career
India fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has made an impressive start to his international journey, and the young pacer believes his time in domestic cricket and the India A setup played a major role in preparing him for the challenges of representing Team India.
After helping India secure a dominant 170-run victory over Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow, Brar opened up about his development as a cricketer and explained how staying true to his strengths has helped him transition smoothly to the international stage.
The right-arm pacer finished with figures of 3 for 60 as India sealed an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. While the performance earned praise, Brar remains focused on improving further and contributing more consistently for the national side.
India A Experience Shaped Gurnoor Brar's Growth
One of the biggest factors behind Brar's rise has been his exposure to the India A environment. According to the young fast bowler, the pathway through domestic cricket, Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and India A competitions gave him the confidence to believe in his methods.
Brar revealed that he approached India A cricket exactly the same way he approached domestic matches. Rather than trying to reinvent himself, he focused on what had already brought him success.
His strategy was simple: bowl with pace, hit hard lengths consistently, and generate movement whenever conditions allowed. By maintaining the same mindset at every level, Brar was able to build confidence and deliver performances that eventually earned him a place in the senior national team.
That consistency in approach has become one of his biggest strengths as he continues to adapt to international cricket.
Hunger to Improve Remains Strong
Despite an encouraging start, Brar is far from satisfied with his performances.
The fast bowler admitted that he believes he can perform even better than he has in his first two international appearances. Such self-belief combined with a desire for continuous improvement is often what separates promising players from long-term international performers.
Brar also credited the Indian team management and bowling coaches for providing him with complete backing and freedom.
Rather than overloading him with technical advice, the coaching staff encouraged him to trust his natural strengths and execute his plans confidently. That support has allowed the youngster to focus on his game without unnecessary pressure.
Valuable Lessons from Gujarat Titans
Although Gurnoor Brar spent much of IPL 2026 on the sidelines with Gujarat Titans, he considers the experience invaluable.
Sharing a dressing room with world-class bowlers such as Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Ishant Sharma gave him an opportunity to observe and learn from some of the best in the business.
Brar explained that even when he was not playing, he carefully studied how experienced bowlers approached different situations. He paid attention to their strengths, mistakes, planning, and execution.
Those observations have now become part of his own learning process as he continues to grow at the highest level.
Fast Bowling Is More Than Just Pace
The young pacer also highlighted an important lesson modern fast bowlers must understand. According to Brar, speed alone is not enough to succeed in international cricket.
He emphasized the importance of planning, field placements, understanding match situations, and adjusting according to conditions.
Against Afghanistan, swing was limited due to the weather and surface conditions. Instead of forcing the ball to move, India adapted their strategy by focusing on hard lengths and disciplined execution.
That tactical flexibility played a major role in India's success.
Bright Future Ahead
With India already securing the ODI series, Gurnoor Brar's emergence is another positive sign for Indian cricket. His ability to learn, adapt, and remain grounded has impressed teammates and coaches alike.
While his performances have already made an impact, Brar's mindset suggests he is only getting started. As he continues to build experience at the highest level, India may have discovered another promising fast-bowling asset capable of serving the team for years to come.
