When the Kolkata Knight Riders took on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday to kick off their IPL 2024 campaign, Harshit Rana, who is in his third season with the team, provided evidence for his selection. With a fantastic delivery to dismiss SRH opener Mayank Agarwal, the 22-year-old displayed his genius.

When Rana delivered the third ball of the sixth over, Mayank attempted to draw it, but he was only able to send it to the fielder at deep backward square leg, where he was caught. Rana celebrated by sending a celebratory flying kiss to Mayank as he left. The bowler moved away and the Indian batsman just gave him a blank look in return.

Bowler Harshit Rana of the Kolkata Knight Riders has been fined a total of sixty percent of his match fees for violating the IPL Code of Conduct on March 23, during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between his side and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5, Rana committed two Level 1 offenses. For each of the two offenses, he was fined 10% and 50% of his match fees. Rana acknowledged the two transgressions and consented to the Match Referee's punishment. The decision made by the Match Referee is final and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.

After dismissing the SRH opener, Harshit Rana gave Mayank Agarwal a flying kiss. However, Indian icon Sunil Gavaskar wasn't too happy about his celebration.

Sunil Gavaskar did not take kindly to Harshit's celebration. According to the tradition from India, "He shouldn't have done that. When he started hitting him for sixes, did the batsman do anything to help him? These kinds of antics are not necessary to play cricket. This is the television era. I recognize that. Celebrate with your friends, but don't bother putting up a show for the enemy."
