Himateja Kodimela Century Sends Anvita Khammam Aces Into TG20 Playoffs
Himateja Kodimela delivered a sensational batting performance to guide Anvita Khammam Aces into the playoffs of the Hyderabad Cricket Association's Sreenidhi University TG20. The left-handed batter remained unbeaten on a magnificent 103 off just 57 deliveries as the Aces defeated Medak Falcons by 19 runs in Hyderabad.
The victory confirmed the Aces' place in the tournament's top four while Himateja Kodimela also climbed to the top of the Orange Cap standings with an impressive tally of 430 runs this season.
The innings from Himateja Kodimela once again highlighted why he has been one of the standout performers of TG20 2026. Coming in after an early wicket, he anchored the innings beautifully before shifting gears to dominate the Medak Falcons bowling attack.
Anvita Khammam Aces suffered an early setback when opener G Sai Krishna Reddy departed without scoring. Shortly afterward, Wafi Kachchhi also returned to the pavilion, leaving the batting side under pressure at 27 for 2.
With the team needing stability, Himateja Kodimela partnered Mickil Jaiswal to rebuild the innings through sensible stroke play and excellent strike rotation. The duo added valuable runs before Jaiswal was dismissed shortly after the powerplay.
That wicket hardly slowed Himateja Kodimela. Instead, he accelerated brilliantly alongside Prateek Reddy. Their 99-run partnership completely shifted the momentum towards the Aces as boundaries began flowing regularly.
The left-hander reached his half-century in just 24 balls and continued attacking even after a brief rain interruption. Following the resumption, Himateja Kodimela maintained complete control of the innings, reaching his maiden tournament century in only 55 deliveries.
His outstanding knock featured eleven boundaries and four towering sixes. Along with captain CV Milind, Himateja Kodimela added an unbeaten 32-run stand in the closing stages, helping the Aces collect 27 valuable runs from the final two overs to post a challenging total of 190 for 5.
The Medak Falcons responded positively during the chase. Openers Naman Agarwal and Shrunjith Reddy attacked from the outset, racing to 57 runs inside five overs and threatening to chase the target comfortably.
However, the turning point arrived when spinner Vidyananda Reddy struck twice in the final over of the powerplay. His double breakthrough removed both Naman Agarwal and captain Ravi Teja, giving the Aces complete control of the contest.
Although Shrunjith Reddy fought back with an impressive half-century, regular wickets prevented Medak Falcons from building lasting partnerships. Wafi Kachchhi produced another crucial spell by dismissing both Shrunjith and Sai Varun Yerram during the middle overs.
Harshith Sai further dented the chase with two wickets in the eighteenth over, effectively ending the Falcons' hopes despite a spirited unbeaten 34 from Ishan Sharma towards the end.
While the bowlers performed admirably, the match undoubtedly belonged to Himateja Kodimela. His unbeaten century not only laid the platform for victory but also demonstrated his consistency throughout the tournament.
With 430 runs this season, Himateja Kodimela has emerged as one of the premier batters in TG20 2026. His ability to adapt according to different match situations has played a significant role in Anvita Khammam Aces' successful campaign.
The playoff qualification will provide additional confidence for the Aces as they prepare for the knockout stage. Having a batter in the form of Himateja Kodimela gives the team a major advantage against any opponent.
For Medak Falcons, the defeat marked the end of a difficult campaign, with the side finishing the season with only one victory despite flashes of individual brilliance.
As the tournament moves into its most important phase, Himateja Kodimela will undoubtedly remain the player to watch. His exceptional form, aggressive stroke play, and ability to deliver under pressure have made him the driving force behind Anvita Khammam Aces' successful run to the TG20 playoffs.
With momentum firmly on their side and Himateja Kodimela leading the batting charts, the Aces will now aim to convert their impressive league-stage performances into a championship-winning campaign.
