HBL PSL X Set to Begin on April 11 with Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars Opener

The wait is over as Pakistan’s most celebrated T20 tournament, the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), is set to return for its milestone 10th edition. The cricketing extravaganza will commence on April 11, 2025, with a thrilling opener between defending champions Islamabad United and two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

With 34 action-packed matches scheduled across four major cities, the tournament promises another edition of gripping cricket, intense rivalries, and unforgettable moments. Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including the much-anticipated final on May 18. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will witness 11 matches, including the crucial Qualifier 1 on May 13. Meanwhile, Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five encounters.

Exhibition Match in Peshawar to Build Momentum

As part of efforts to expand the tournament’s reach, an exhibition match is set to take place in Peshawar on April 8. While the teams for this high-profile match are yet to be confirmed, the fixture is expected to generate excitement among fans and further cement Peshawar’s status as a key cricketing hub.

Key Fixtures and Double-Headers

The opening weekend will see Karachi Kings, the winners of PSL 5, begin their campaign on April 12 against last season’s runners-up, Multan Sultans. Multan Sultans, champions of PSL 6, will play their first home game against Lahore Qalandars on April 22.

The newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host its first match on April 24, featuring home side Lahore Qalandars against Peshawar Zalmi. Peshawar Zalmi, who clinched the PSL title in 2017, will play their five designated matches at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while Quetta Gladiators, the 2019 champions, will play five games in Lahore.

Three double-headers are lined up this season, ensuring maximum entertainment for cricket enthusiasts. Two of these will be played on weekends, while the third will take place on May 1, a national holiday (Labour Day), allowing more fans to tune in to the high-stakes action.

PSL Chief Executive’s Statement

Speaking about the significance of the 10th edition, HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer expressed his excitement about the upcoming season.

“We are thrilled to officially announce the schedule for the historic 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League. Over the past decade, the HBL PSL has grown into a globally recognized tournament, showcasing the best of Pakistan’s cricketing talent,” he said.

“This year’s event will not only feature high-profile international cricketers but will also bring fans 34 high-octane matches in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Additionally, our exhibition match in Peshawar marks a significant step in expanding the league’s footprint.”

Road to the Final

The tournament will follow a structured format, with teams battling it out in the league stage before advancing to the playoffs. The Qualifier 1 on May 13 will determine the first finalist, while Eliminator 1 and Eliminator 2, set to be played on May 14 and 16, respectively, will decide the second team in the final showdown.

On May 18, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will witness the grand finale, where one team will etch its name in PSL history by lifting the coveted trophy.
