The latest shortlist features players who delivered match-winning performances throughout the month, with representatives from Nepal, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, and New Zealand earning recognition for their consistency and impact on the field.

Men's Nominees Lead with Outstanding International Performances

The race for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award includes Nepal all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and Bangladesh stars Taijul Islam and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Dipendra Singh Airee Continues to Shine

Nepal's versatile all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee enjoyed another productive month in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. Airee accumulated 249 runs in six One-Day Internationals at an average of 49.80 while maintaining an impressive strike rate above 110.

One of the highlights of his campaign was a brilliant century against the United Arab Emirates. Beyond his batting contributions, Airee also delivered with the ball, claiming eight wickets during the month, including a remarkable spell of 4 for 24 against the United States.

His all-round excellence has made him one of the strongest contenders for the ICC Player of the Month May 2026 award.

Taijul Islam Powers Bangladesh to Historic Success

Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam earned his nomination after playing a crucial role in Bangladesh's dominant 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan.

The left-arm spinner finished as the leading wicket-taker of the series, collecting 13 wickets at an impressive average of 19.61. His standout performance came in Sylhet, where he registered a six-wicket haul and consistently troubled Pakistan's batting lineup throughout the series.

Mushfiqur Rahim Delivers with the Bat

Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim was instrumental in Bangladesh's successful Test campaign. The experienced campaigner scored 235 runs across the series and was named Player of the Series.

His memorable performances included a crucial 71-run knock in the first Test and a magnificent century in the second Test, underlining his value as one of Bangladesh's most dependable batters.

Women's Nominees Impress Ahead of Major Tournaments

The ICC Women's Player of the Month shortlist features England pacer Lauren Bell, Pakistan opener Gull Feroza, and New Zealand batter Maddy Green.

Lauren Bell Leads England's Bowling Attack

England fast bowler Lauren Bell produced consistent performances across both ODI and T20I formats. She claimed five wickets in the ODI series against New Zealand and followed it up with eight wickets across four T20 Internationals against New Zealand and India.

Her ability to strike regularly with the new ball has strengthened England's preparations ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

Gull Feroza Enjoys a Breakthrough Month

Pakistan batter Gull Feroza delivered one of the most impressive batting performances of the month during the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

She scored two centuries and a half-century while averaging an outstanding 128. Her aggressive approach was equally effective in T20 cricket, where she maintained a strike rate above 150.

Maddy Green Continues New Zealand's Progress

New Zealand's Maddy Green showcased her class against England, earning the Player of the Series award in the ODI leg. She scored 125 runs in three matches, including a match-winning 88, and followed it with useful contributions in the T20I series.

Voting Process Begins

Cricket fans worldwide can now participate in the voting process alongside the ICC Voting Academy. While fans contribute 10 percent of the final vote, the remaining 90 percent comes from an independent panel consisting of former cricketers, broadcasters, journalists, and ICC Hall of Fame members.

With exceptional performances across formats, the competition for the ICC Player of the Month May 2026 awards promises to be closely contested. The winners will be announced during the second week of June through ICC's official platforms.
