ICC T20I Rankings Update Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma Hold Top Two Spots as England Stars Rise
The latest ICC T20I Rankings have brought encouraging news for Indian cricket despite the team's recent struggles against England. Star batters Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma continue to occupy the top two positions in the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings, highlighting their consistency at the highest level. At the same time, several England players have made significant progress in the ICC T20I Rankings after their dominant performances in the ongoing five-match T20I series.
England currently lead the series 2-0 after the opening game was washed out. Their emphatic 125-run victory in the third T20I, India's biggest defeat by runs in Men's T20I history, has been rewarded with notable improvements across the latest ICC T20I Rankings.
While India's results have been disappointing, the country's batting strength continues to shine in the ICC T20I Rankings. Ishan Kishan remains the world's No. 1 T20I batter, with Abhishek Sharma firmly holding the second position. Their continued dominance reflects the impact both players have made in international cricket over the past year.
England's Jacob Bethell emerged as one of the biggest winners in this week's ICC T20I Rankings. The young left-hander climbed seven places to reach eighth position after his unbeaten 76 from just 46 deliveries helped England secure victory in the second T20I. His fearless batting has established him as one of England's brightest young stars.
All-rounder Sam Curran also enjoyed an impressive rise in the ICC T20I Rankings. After claiming three wickets in the second match and scoring an unbeaten 41 during England's commanding win in the third game, Curran moved up in all three ranking categories. He climbed 12 places among batters, improved by 12 positions in the bowling rankings, and moved into joint 13th place among T20I all-rounders.
England's experienced leg-spinner Adil Rashid strengthened his position in the ICC T20I Rankings by moving up to third place among T20I bowlers. His disciplined spell of 2 for 14 in the third T20I played a key role in dismantling India's batting lineup.
Young fast bowler Josh Tongue also entered the ICC T20I Rankings following his outstanding four-wicket performance in only his second international appearance. Meanwhile, Will Jacks continued his steady rise by breaking into the top ten T20I all-rounders after contributing effectively with both bat and ball during the series.
There was positive news for India captain Shreyas Iyer despite the team's disappointing performances. His scores of 68 in the rain-affected opening match and 37 in the second T20I helped him make a remarkable jump of 425 places in the ICC T20I Rankings, moving into joint 93rd position.
Away from T20 cricket, the ICC also announced several significant changes in the Test and ODI rankings. Sri Lanka opener Lahiru Udara climbed 52 places after his superb 188 against the West Indies, while Kamindu Mendis moved into the top six Test batters. West Indies duo Justin Greaves and Shai Hope also enjoyed impressive gains following their century partnership that helped secure a draw.
In the ODI rankings, Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana surged to 12th after recording career-best figures of 6 for 21 against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe's pace attack also benefited, with Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans all improving their rankings following the team's memorable defence of just 141 runs.
The latest ICC T20I Rankings once again underline the competitive nature of international cricket. While India continue to boast the world's top two T20I batters in Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, England's outstanding recent performances have seen several of their players climb rapidly, adding another exciting dimension to the ongoing rivalry between the two cricketing giants.
