India Women delivered one of the most dominant performances of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, defeating Netherlands Women by a massive 95-run margin at Headingley, Leeds. The victory further strengthened India's position in Group A and showcased their growing strength in both batting and bowling departments.
After being asked to bat first, India Women posted a commanding total of 209/5 in their 20 overs. The innings was led by Smriti Mandhana, who produced a brilliant match-winning knock and earned the Player of the Match award. Her aggressive stroke play and ability to find boundaries consistently put the Netherlands bowlers under immense pressure. India maintained a high scoring rate throughout the innings, with valuable contributions from the middle order helping the team cross the 200-run mark.
Chasing a daunting target of 210, Netherlands Women struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Despite fighting knocks from Babette de Leede (28) and Heather Siegers (21), the Dutch batting lineup failed to build substantial partnerships. India Women’s bowlers controlled the match from the start, regularly picking up wickets and preventing any momentum from developing.
Shree Charani emerged as the standout bowler with four wickets, while Shafali Verma impressed with three wickets. Nandni Sharma claimed two wickets and Deepti Sharma added another, ensuring the Netherlands Women were bowled out for just 114 runs in 17.3 overs.
The emphatic victory highlighted India's championship credentials in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. With Smriti Mandhana in outstanding form and the bowling attack firing collectively, India Women will take significant confidence into their upcoming matches. For Netherlands Women, the defeat serves as a learning experience as they look to bounce back in the tournament and keep their qualification hopes alive.
