The DP World International League T20 Season 4 is gearing up for another thrilling ride as a host of global T20 superstars confirm their return to the UAE-based league. With the first phase of squad selections now complete, franchises have unveiled their retentions and new signings ahead of the highly anticipated ILT20 Player Auction, the final step before the December 2 kickoff.
From England’s firepower to West Indian flair and South Asian finesse, DP World ILT20 Season 4 promises an explosive cricketing spectacle that once again asserts the UAE as a premier T20 destination.
ILT20 2025: Star Power Returns with Global T20 Icons
The announcement that names like Phil Salt, Alex Hales, Wanindu Hasaranga, Rovman Powell, Sam Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Tim David, and Sikandar Raza are returning to action has reignited fan excitement. With the tournament scheduled to begin on UAE’s National Day, December 2, and running until January 4, 2026, the stage is set for another unforgettable edition of the DP World ILT20.
England continues to lead in superstar representation, with World Cup winners Alex Hales, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Liam Livingstone, and Phil Salt all retained or signed by various franchises. Notably, Sam Curran, the Red Belt Winner and MVP of Season 3, is back with Desert Vipers as they aim for their first title.
From the Caribbean, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Sherfane Rutherford, and Green Belt Winner Shai Hope return to energize their teams. The firepower of these players has made ILT20 a staple for explosive performances and highlight reels.
ILT20 2025 Teams Strengthen With New Signings
Each team used the first squad-building phase to strategically retain core players while signing new talent. The Dubai Capitals, last season’s champions, have bolstered their bowling department with Waqar Salamkheil, a key spinner in Season 2, and promising pacers Luke Wood and Muhammad Jawadullah. With Rovman Powell and Shai Hope returning, the Capitals remain serious contenders.
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, known for their aggressive approach, made a statement by signing Alex Hales, Liam Livingstone, and Sherfane Rutherford. These additions give them a formidable top order, backed by the retained trio of Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell.
Desert Vipers, who came agonizingly close in Seasons 1 and 3, are sticking with a solid foundation. They’ve retained stars like Sam Curran, Lockie Ferguson, and Wanindu Hasaranga while adding Andries Gous to beef up their top order.
New Faces and Familiar Names in Focus
While many top performers are returning, ILT20 Season 4 also features a few intriguing debuts. Afghanistan’s versatile all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai will represent Gulf Giants, joining experienced campaigners like Moeen Ali and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Omarzai’s recent rise in global T20 circuits makes him one to watch.
MI Emirates have signed the reliable Chris Woakes and promising Sri Lankan all-rounder Kamindu Mendis, the latter set to make his league debut. Woakes, known for his all-format consistency, adds depth to both the bowling and lower-order batting.
Meanwhile, Sharjah Warriorz have rebuilt with purpose. Adding Sikandar Raza, Maheesh Theekshana, Tim David, and Saurabh Netravalkar, the Warriorz are clearly aiming to bounce back strong. Raza, the MVP of Season 2, returns after a season away, while David brings middle-order firepower from his previous stints with MI Emirates and Gulf Giants.
ILT20 2025 Format and Tournament Calendar
This year’s ILT20 Season 4 maintains the six-team format with 34 matches in total, kicking off with a blockbuster opener on UAE National Day. The tournament concludes on January 4, 2026, with what promises to be a grand final under the lights.
The second and final phase of squad selection will be conducted through the ILT20 Season 4 Player Auction, with dates to be announced soon. Teams will complete their 20-member squads through this auction, making it a key moment for both strategy and surprise picks.
