Kranti Gaud Puts India in Command with Brilliant Morning Spell at Lord's

Kranti Gaud delivered another outstanding bowling performance as India tightened their grip on the historic one-off Women's Test against England at Lord's. Backed by disciplined support from Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud spearheaded India's dominant morning session, reducing England to 137 for 5 at lunch on Day 2, still trailing by 148 runs.

After posting 285 in their first innings, India needed early breakthroughs to maintain control, and Kranti Gaud answered the call immediately. The young pacer displayed exceptional discipline with both line and length, once again proving why she is becoming one of India's most exciting fast-bowling prospects in the longer format.

The day began perfectly for India as Kranti Gaud dismissed the overnight batter Maia Bouchier. Bowling with excellent control from the Nursery End, Kranti Gaud induced an outside edge that was safely collected by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. The wicket ended England's promising partnership and immediately shifted momentum in India's favour.

India struck again in the very next over through Sayali Satghare. Heather Knight, who had survived a close call on the opening day, could not escape this time as Satghare trapped the former England captain leg before wicket with a delivery that jaged back sharply. The successful review confirmed India's growing dominance, leaving England struggling at 38 for 3.

The best moment of the session belonged to Kranti Gaud once again. Having consistently shaped deliveries into debutant Alice Capsey, Kranti Gaud cleverly delivered one that held its line before moving away late. Capsey was completely beaten as the ball crashed into the off stump, producing one of the finest deliveries of the match and reducing England to 47 for 4.

At that stage, India appeared set to wrap up England's innings quickly. However, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and wicketkeeper Amy Jones responded with impressive determination. The experienced duo refused to panic and gradually rebuilt England's innings through a positive counterattack.

Amy Jones played with confidence, driving elegantly through the off side while punishing anything short. Nat Sciver-Brunt, after surviving the early pressure, began rotating the strike effectively before introducing her trademark sweep shots against the Indian spinners. Their valuable partnership helped England cross the 100-run mark and briefly slowed India's progress.

Despite the resistance, India continued to apply pressure through disciplined bowling. Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma and debutant N Sree Charani maintained attacking fields while consistently challenging both batters. Rana extracted sharp turn from the Lord's surface, while Charani impressed with her control and variations.

Amy Jones completed an excellent half-century from just 59 deliveries, becoming one of England Women's quickest Test fifty-makers. Her innings briefly revived England's hopes of reducing India's first-innings advantage.

But just when England appeared ready to seize the momentum, India struck another crucial blow. Moments before lunch, Sneh Rana produced a beautifully spun delivery that forced Jones into an inside edge. The ball looped gently towards Richa Ghosh at short leg, who completed a simple catch to end the dangerous 84-run partnership.

That wicket ensured India walked off the field firmly in control. Kranti Gaud finished the morning session with outstanding figures of 3 for 25, while Sayali Satghare and Sneh Rana provided excellent support with crucial breakthroughs.

With England still trailing by 148 runs and only five wickets remaining, Kranti Gaud has placed India in a commanding position in this historic Women's Test. If India's bowlers continue with the same intensity after lunch, Kranti Gaud and her teammates will have an excellent opportunity to build a substantial first-innings lead and push England further onto the back foot at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.
