Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 Bengaluru Blasters Storm Into Final After Fighting Win Over Coastal Kings

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 delivered another thrilling contest as Bengaluru Blasters secured a place in the tournament final with a hard-fought 12-run victory over Coastal Kings Mangaluru in Qualifier 1 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite finding themselves in deep trouble early in the innings, the Blasters produced an outstanding comeback before defending their total with disciplined bowling.

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 continues to showcase Karnataka's finest domestic talent, and this qualifier highlighted the resilience and match-winning abilities of Bengaluru Blasters.

After being asked to bat first, Bengaluru Blasters endured a nightmare start. The top order crumbled under relentless pressure from the Coastal Kings bowling attack, slipping to 52 for 5 inside the first eight overs. Fast bowler Vasuki Koushik struck twice, removing Bhuvan Raju and Shivraj S, while Santokh Singh dismissed Rohan Patil and Wahid Faizan Khan to put the league leaders under immense pressure.

At that stage, the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 qualifier appeared firmly in Coastal Kings' control. However, captain Shubhang Hegde and experienced all-rounder Praveen Dubey had different plans.

The pair stitched together a magnificent unbeaten partnership of 133 runs for the sixth wicket, completely changing the momentum of the match. Initially cautious, both batters gradually shifted gears before launching an aggressive assault during the final overs.

Praveen Dubey played the attacking role brilliantly, smashing an unbeaten 69 from just 38 deliveries. His innings included six elegant boundaries and two towering sixes as he reached his second half-century of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 season.

Captain Shubhang Hegde anchored the innings with equal composure. Remaining unbeaten on 65 from 52 balls, Hegde struck two boundaries and three maximums while ensuring the scoreboard kept moving. Together, they added 78 runs in the final five overs to lift Bengaluru Blasters to a competitive 185 for 5.

Chasing 186, Coastal Kings Mangaluru never found complete control of the innings. Their hopes suffered an early setback when opener Aadharsh Prajwal fell to Samit Dravid before Vidwath Kaverappa dismissed the dangerous Karun Nair for just two runs.

Although Nikin Jose and Prajwal Pavan steadied the innings with a valuable 50-run partnership, Bengaluru Blasters continued to apply pressure with timely breakthroughs. Samit Dravid returned to dismiss Jose for an impressive 45, ensuring the chase never gained sustained momentum.

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 qualifier came alive again when Siddharth Akhil and Suraj Ahuja launched a counterattack. Their entertaining partnership of 64 runs revived Coastal Kings' hopes. Akhil scored a quickfire 37 off 24 balls, while Suraj Ahuja remained unbeaten with an excellent 52 from only 29 deliveries, featuring six boundaries and two sixes.

However, Bengaluru Blasters held their nerve during the closing stages. With 34 runs required from the final two overs, Praveen Dubey delivered the decisive breakthrough by dismissing Dheeraj Gowda, effectively ending Coastal Kings' hopes of completing the chase.

Samit Dravid emerged as the standout bowler for Bengaluru Blasters, claiming outstanding figures of 3 for 30. His disciplined spell ensured that every breakthrough came at crucial moments, preventing Coastal Kings from building lasting partnerships.

The victory confirms Bengaluru Blasters as the first finalists of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, rewarding a season filled with consistent performances. Their remarkable recovery from 52 for 5 demonstrated the team's depth, composure and championship mentality.

Meanwhile, Coastal Kings Mangaluru still have another opportunity to reach the final. They will face Shivamogga Yodhas in Qualifier 2, where the winner will earn the remaining place in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 final.
