Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 Shivamogga Yodhas Beat Gulbarga Mystics in One Run Thriller

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 delivered another unforgettable contest as Shivamogga Yodhas edged Gulbarga Mystics by just one run via the VJD Method in a rain-affected thriller at Hubballi. Despite a breathtaking late assault from veteran batter Manish Pandey, the Yodhas held their nerve to register a memorable victory and strengthen their playoff hopes.

The win also served as sweet revenge for Shivamogga, who had suffered a massive 95-run defeat against the Mystics earlier in the tournament. With their third win in seven matches, the Yodhas climbed to fourth place on the points table, while Gulbarga Mystics remained third despite their fourth defeat of the campaign.

Shivamogga Yodhas Build a Strong Total

After being asked to bat first, Shivamogga Yodhas posted an imposing 180/7 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to valuable contributions throughout the batting order.

The innings received an early boost from wicketkeeper-batter Luvnith Sisodia, who continued his impressive run in the tournament. Sisodia played with confidence, scoring a brisk 31 off 18 balls while sharing a 53-run partnership with Tushar Singh.

Tushar anchored the middle phase with a composed 35 from 27 deliveries, striking one four and three sixes. However, the Mystics fought back well by claiming quick wickets, reducing the Yodhas to 105/5 after 12.1 overs.

At that stage, the innings needed rebuilding, and Sujay Sateri stepped up with a superb unbeaten knock.

Sujay Sateri Finishes in Style

Sateri produced a mature and aggressive innings, remaining unbeaten on 47 off just 29 deliveries. He found an ideal partner in Yashovardhan Parantap, who contributed a valuable 25 runs.

Together, the pair stitched a crucial 69-run partnership for the sixth wicket, allowing Shivamogga to finish strongly and reach 180/7.

For Gulbarga Mystics, Dhruv Prabhakar emerged as the most successful bowler, returning impressive figures of 2/16.

Rain Changes the Chase

Rain interrupted play during the innings break, forcing officials to revise the target.

Under the VJD Method, Gulbarga Mystics were set 128 runs in 12 overs, turning the chase into a high-pressure sprint.

The Mystics struggled to keep pace as wickets fell regularly.

Opener Macneil Noronha provided an aggressive start with 34 runs off 20 balls, but the middle order failed to build meaningful partnerships.

As the innings progressed, the required run rate continued to climb, leaving captain Manish Pandey with a difficult task.

Manish Pandey Nearly Scripts a Miracle

With Gulbarga requiring 39 runs from the final two overs and 26 from the last over, the contest appeared all but over.

However, Manish Pandey produced one of the most thrilling cameos of the tournament.

The experienced batter smashed 23 runs in the final over, finishing unbeaten on a sensational 36 from only 13 balls, including one boundary and four towering sixes.

Despite his extraordinary effort, Gulbarga finished on 126/7, falling agonisingly short by a single run under the VJD calculation.

Bowlers Hold Their Nerve

While Pandey's innings almost stole the headlines, Shivamogga's bowlers deserve immense credit for consistently applying pressure throughout the chase.

Yashovardhan Parantap claimed 2 wickets for 34 runs, while Ambareesh K also picked up 2/33, ensuring Gulbarga never gained complete control of the chase.

Their disciplined bowling during the middle overs ultimately proved decisive.
