Major League Cricket 2026 is ready to bring another exciting chapter to cricket's rapidly growing journey in the United States. Entering its fourth season, MLC has established itself as one of the most ambitious T20 leagues in the world, attracting international stars, passionate fans, and increasing global attention.

The tournament begins on June 18 and will run until July 18, featuring 34 matches, including 30 league-stage encounters and four playoff games. With a new venue added to the roster and several world-class players joining the competition, MLC 2026 promises to be the biggest season yet.

What is Major League Cricket

Major League Cricket is the premier professional T20 cricket league in the United States. Launched in 2023 and officially sanctioned by USA Cricket and the ICC, the tournament was created to accelerate the development of cricket across North America.

In just a few seasons, the league has attracted major investments and some of the biggest names in international cricket, helping grow the sport in a market traditionally dominated by other sports.

Teams Competing in MLC 2026

Six franchises will compete in the 2026 edition:

  • Los Angeles Knight Riders

  • MI New York

  • San Francisco Unicorns

  • Seattle Orcas

  • Texas Super Kings

  • Washington Freedom

Defending champions MI New York enter the tournament with strong momentum after winning their second MLC title in 2025. The franchise remains one of the strongest teams in the competition and will once again be among the favorites.

Venues for Major League Cricket 2026

This season will be played across three venues in the United States:

  • Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas

  • Oakland Coliseum, California

  • Knight Riders Cricket Field, California

The introduction of Knight Riders Cricket Field marks another important milestone for cricket infrastructure in America. Oakland Coliseum will also host the playoff matches and the grand final.

IPL Connections Continue to Grow

One of the unique aspects of Major League Cricket is its strong connection with the Indian Premier League ecosystem.

MI New York is linked to Mumbai Indians, Texas Super Kings shares ownership ties with Chennai Super Kings, while Los Angeles Knight Riders are associated with Kolkata Knight Riders. Seattle Orcas also have links with the GMR Group, co-owners of Delhi Capitals.

These connections have helped bring valuable expertise, coaching structures, and global visibility to the league.

R Ashwin Headlines Star Studded Tournament

One of the biggest talking points of MLC 2026 is the arrival of Ravichandran Ashwin at San Francisco Unicorns.

The legendary Indian spinner becomes the first former India international cricketer to participate in Major League Cricket. His experience and tactical brilliance will add tremendous value to the Unicorns squad.

Other major stars set to feature include Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Quinton de Kock, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Rachin Ravindra, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Marcus Stoinis, Faf du Plessis, Trent Boult, Haris Rauf, and Lockie Ferguson.

Tournament Format

The six teams will play a round-robin league stage consisting of 30 matches. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.

The first and second-ranked teams will compete in Qualifier 1, while the third and fourth-ranked sides will meet in the Eliminator. The loser of Qualifier 1 will face the Eliminator winner in the Challenger before the final.

Why MLC 2026 Matters

Major League Cricket is more than just a domestic T20 competition. It represents cricket's long-term ambitions in the United States, especially with the Los Angeles Olympics approaching in 2028.

With better infrastructure, growing fan interest, international stars, and increasing investment, MLC 2026 could become another landmark season in the expansion of cricket across North America.

As the tournament begins, fans around the world will be watching closely to see whether MI New York can defend their title or if a new champion emerges in what promises to be a thrilling season of T20 cricket.
