After injuring her left quadricep muscle in the opening match in Ahmedabad, White Ferns all-rounder Melie Kerr has been ruled out of the ODI series in India.
The morning following the game, Kerr had scans, which showed a grade one quadricep rupture that would take around three weeks to heal.
On October 27, Kerr will go back to his hometown to begin his recovery.
Ben Sawyer, the head coach of the White Ferns, said he was sorry for Kerr.
Sawyer remarked, "We're really gutted for Melie."
"We understand how disappointed she is to be unable to play these games because injuries are always a difficult period for a player.
We'll definitely miss Melie, but we're hoping she recovers quickly because everyone understands how important she is to this squad.
With the series' last game in three days, Kerr won't be replaced in the roster.
Tomorrow at 9 p.m. NZT, the White Ferns play India in the second One-Day International at Narendra Modi Stadium.
