BCCI Hosts Naman Awards 2025 to Recognize Cricketing Excellence
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hosted the prestigious Naman Awards 2025 in Mumbai on February 1, 2025, honoring some of the finest performances in Indian cricket over the past year. The ceremony witnessed the recognition of young talents, legendary cricketers, and record-breaking achievements across different formats of the game.
Sachin Tendulkar Receives Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award to cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, acknowledging his unmatched contributions to Indian cricket over 24 years. The award honored his journey from a 16-year-old prodigy to becoming the highest run-scorer in international cricket, with 100 centuries and 34,357 international runs.
BCCI President Roger Binny praised Tendulkar, stating, “Sachin not only transformed Indian cricket but also inspired generations with his dedication, humility, and excellence. His legacy is forever etched in the history of the sport.”
Jasprit Bumrah Wins Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer (Men)
For the third time in his career, ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was honored with the Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer (Men). The fiery pacer had an outstanding 2024 season, taking 71 wickets in 13 Tests, becoming the highest wicket-taker of the year. His performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where he claimed 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26, played a crucial role in India’s triumph.
Smriti Mandhana Named Best International Cricketer (Women)
Smriti Mandhana, India’s vice-captain and one of the most consistent performers in women’s cricket, received the Best International Cricketer (Women) Award for the fourth time. The stylish left-hander had a phenomenal 2024 season, scoring 747 runs in ODIs at an average of 57.46, including three centuries against New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. She also excelled in T20Is, amassing 763 runs in 21 innings, proving her mettle across formats.
Mumbai Cricket Association Wins Best Domestic Performance Award
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was recognized for its outstanding performances in BCCI domestic tournaments (2023-24), securing the Ranji Trophy for a record 42nd time. Additionally, Mumbai’s women’s and youth teams clinched titles in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy, and the Women's U19 One-Day Trophy.
Ravichandran Ashwin Felicitated with BCCI Special Award
The BCCI honored Ravichandran Ashwin with a Special Award, celebrating his illustrious international career. Ashwin, one of India's most successful off-spinners, recently announced his retirement from international cricket after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025. His contribution to Indian cricket, especially in red-ball cricket, remains unparalleled.
