Prasidh Krishna Replaces Siraj In India T20I Squad For Tour

India have made an important change to their squad ahead of the upcoming T20I assignments against Ireland and England, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna replacing Mohammed Siraj. The decision comes after the BCCI medical team advised Siraj to take a period of rest as part of a carefully planned workload management program.

With a packed international calendar ahead, the move highlights India's focus on player fitness and long-term planning while also providing an opportunity for Prasidh Krishna to make a strong return to the shortest format.

Mohammed Siraj Rested Ahead Of Busy Season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from both T20I series following consultations between the medical staff and team management.

Siraj has been one of India's most heavily used fast bowlers across formats in recent years. Considering the demanding international schedule ahead, the management has opted to prioritize recovery and fitness to ensure he remains fresh for future assignments.

The decision reflects the modern approach adopted by many international teams, where workload management has become a key factor in maintaining player performance and preventing injuries.

Prasidh Krishna Earns Well Deserved Recall

Prasidh Krishna's inclusion comes on the back of a productive IPL 2026 campaign with Gujarat Titans. The tall right-arm pacer picked up 16 wickets in 12 matches and consistently troubled batters with his pace and bounce.

Although his economy rate was on the higher side, selectors have clearly valued his wicket-taking ability and his experience in international cricket.

Prasidh has already represented India in five T20 Internationals and claimed eight wickets. His last appearance in the format came against Australia in November 2023. The upcoming series presents an excellent opportunity for him to strengthen his case for a regular place in India's white-ball setup.

New Era Under Shreyas Iyer

The Ireland and England tour will also mark the beginning of a new chapter for India's T20I side under captain Shreyas Iyer.

After replacing Suryakumar Yadav as skipper, Iyer will lead a squad packed with youth and experience. Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain, while players such as Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel provide depth and versatility.

One of the biggest attractions of the tour will be teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old batting prodigy has already generated tremendous excitement and could become the youngest player to represent India in international cricket.

Important Preparation Ahead

India's tour schedule includes two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28, followed by a five-match T20I series in England from July 1 to July 11.

These matches will serve as crucial preparation for the Men's T20 competition at the Asian Games later this year. With several young players looking to cement their positions, competition for places is expected to be intense.

Updated India T20I Squad

Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Tilak Varma (Vice Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prasidh Krishna.

As India begin a new T20I cycle under fresh leadership, all eyes will be on Prasidh Krishna and the next generation of stars aiming to make their mark on the international stage.
