The departure of Ryan ten Doeschate comes after India's white-ball tour of England, where the team suffered defeats in both the T20I and ODI series. According to reports, the experienced coach informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision while the squad was still in the United Kingdom. His contract, which began around July 2024, officially concluded in mid-July 2026.

Ryan ten Doeschate joined India's coaching setup following Gautam Gambhir's appointment as head coach after India's triumphant ICC Men's T20 World Cup campaign in 2024. Widely regarded as one of Gambhir's most trusted coaching partners, ten Doeschate played an important role in strengthening India's batting and fielding departments during his tenure.

The period under Ryan ten Doeschate witnessed several notable achievements for Indian cricket in the limited-overs format.
