Adani Womens Delhi Premier League T20 | South Delhi Superstarz Women edge out North Delhi Strikers Women in 12 run victory

In a tense match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, South Delhi Superstarz Women defeated North Delhi Strikers Women by 12 runs to earn their first victory of the season in the Adani Women's Delhi Premier League T20.

The North Delhi Strikers failed in their pursuit despite a scorching 31 off 14 from Nazma Sultana and a brilliant 62 off 51 balls from Ayushi Soni. Earlier, South Delhi Superstarz Women set a difficult goal of 147/5, helped by a late burst from R Priyadarshini (31* off 23) and Ekta Bhadana (16 off 6).

The North Delhi Strikers Women were in danger at 25/2 in 5.3 overs after losing openers Upasana Yadav (13 off 13) and Mansi Sharma (9 off 16) while chasing 148.

Before Sonia Khatri (5 off 11) fell in the second run out of the innings, Ayushi Soni (62 off 51) and Khatri struggled through a 28-run partnership in 36 balls.

Nazma Sultana got off to a fast start as the North Delhi Strikers Women were way behind the pace at 53/3 after 11.3 overs. Sultana scored 31 runs in 14 deliveries, including two sixes and four fours, before Ekta Bhadana caught her in the 16th over.

In the last four overs, the North Delhi Strikers Women required 44 runs. With her 44-ball half-century, Ayushi Soni changed the equation to require 18 runs from six balls. Monika Kumari (5 off 7) was removed by Aarti Kumar to start the final over, and he later removed Ayushi Soni. In the last over, Riti Tomar was also dismissed, bringing the North Delhi Strikers' total to 135/7.

Prior to Sehrawat's removal by Nazma Sultana in the sixth over, Chhavi Gupta (32 off 34) and Shweta Sehrawat (10 off 10) combined for 36 runs during the powerplay while batting first. In the ninth over, Chhavi Gupta was eventually removed by Riti Tomar, leaving the South Delhi Superstarz Women at 52/2.

Tanisha Singh (29 off 33), who was scoring at less than a run-a-ball, dropped anchor to make a crucial contribution through the middle overs when Riya Soni (9 off 4) and Nidhi Mahto (6 off 12) failed for low scores. R Priyadarshini (31* off 23) and Tanisha Singh collaborated for 36 runs in 28 balls.

North Delhi Superstarz Women finished at 147/5 in 20 overs thanks to late-inning flourishes from Priyadarshini and Ekta Bhadana (16* off 6) after Tanisha Singh was removed by Soni Yadav in the 18th over.
