Sylvester Dsouza Creates History With Five Wicket Haul

The foundation of Triumph Knights' victory was laid by pacer Sylvester Dsouza, who registered the first five-wicket haul of the T20 Mumbai League 2026 season.

Bowling with excellent control and pace variation, Dsouza dismantled the MSC Maratha Royals batting lineup and finished with outstanding figures of 5/21. His spell became only the fifth five-wicket haul in the tournament's history, placing him among an elite group of bowlers.

The Royals looked in trouble early after slipping to 73/5. However, Chinmay Sutar and Maxwell Swaminathan staged a strong recovery with a valuable 64-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Swaminathan scored 36 while Sutar contributed 32, helping the Royals reach 137/5 after 17 overs. Just when a score above 170 looked possible, Dsouza returned to trigger a dramatic collapse. The Royals lost their remaining wickets for just 15 runs and were bowled out for 152 in 19.5 overs.

Sagar Mishra also supported well with figures of 2/30 as Triumph Knights maintained pressure throughout the innings.

Suryakumar Yadav Anchors The Chase

Chasing 153, Triumph Knights suffered an early setback as Akhil Herwadkar and Vedant Murkar departed cheaply. At 36/2, the Royals sensed an opportunity to put pressure on the struggling Knights.

However, captain Suryakumar Yadav had other plans.

The experienced India batter combined with Nutan Goel to produce the match-winning partnership of the contest. The duo added 103 runs for the third wicket and completely shifted the momentum in Triumph Knights' favour.

Goel played an aggressive innings of 56, striking four boundaries and three sixes. At the other end, Suryakumar showcased his class with a superb unbeaten 72 from only 36 deliveries.

His innings was packed with attacking strokeplay, featuring 13 boundaries and one six. More importantly, he controlled the chase perfectly and ensured there were no further hiccups.

Even after Goel's dismissal in the 15th over, the target was well within reach. Suryakumar calmly finished the job as Triumph Knights reached 153/4 in just 16 overs.

Captain Shows Class Off The Field

One of the most memorable moments came after the match when Suryakumar Yadav handed over his Player of the Match award to Sylvester Dsouza.

The gesture reflected the captain's appreciation for the bowler's match-defining contribution. While Suryakumar's unbeaten fifty grabbed headlines, he acknowledged that Dsouza's five-wicket haul had truly laid the foundation for the victory.

The victory not only gave Triumph Knights their first win of the season but also showcased the impact of experienced leaders and emerging talents. With Suryakumar Yadav leading from the front and Sylvester Dsouza producing a career-defining spell, Triumph Knights have finally found momentum and will hope to build on it in the upcoming matches of the T20 Mumbai League 2026.
