Tajinder Singh Inspires MI New York to Stunning Comeback Victory Over Seattle Orcas

Tajinder Singh produced one of the finest rescue acts of the Major League Cricket 2026 season as MI New York secured a remarkable 17-run victory over Seattle Orcas in Dallas. With the team struggling at 73/5, Tajinder Singh played an explosive unbeaten knock of 66 from just 27 deliveries to completely change the course of the contest and strengthen MI New York's playoff hopes.

The victory lifted MI New York to second place on the points table with 10 points, level with table-toppers San Francisco Unicorns but behind on net run rate. More importantly, the result showcased the fighting spirit that has become a hallmark of the franchise.

Batting first after losing the toss, MI New York endured a nightmare start. Seattle Orcas captain Marcus Stoinis ripped through the top order with a sensational spell of fast bowling. Ryan Rickelton, Nicholas Pooran, Monank Patel and Shakib Al Hasan all departed cheaply as the innings threatened to collapse completely.

That was when Tajinder Singh walked into the middle and completely transformed the game. Partnering the experienced Kieron Pollard, Tajinder Singh rebuilt the innings with positive intent before launching an all-out assault during the death overs.

The sixth-wicket pair added a brilliant 80 runs in only 41 deliveries. While Pollard contributed a valuable 54 from 33 balls, Tajinder Singh dominated the closing stages with fearless stroke play. Even after Pollard's dismissal in the nineteenth over, Tajinder Singh continued attacking without hesitation.

His unbeaten innings included powerful hitting all around the ground, and he finished in spectacular fashion by smashing Dasun Shanaka for two boundaries and two sixes in the final over. The late assault helped MI New York score 97 runs in the last seven overs and finish with a competitive total of 179/8.

Despite Tajinder Singh's outstanding innings, Seattle Orcas appeared to be cruising towards victory during their chase. Tim Seifert and Matthew Breetzke added a magnificent 117-run partnership for the second wicket after an early breakthrough.

With the scoreboard reading 144/1 in the sixteenth over, the target looked comfortably within reach. However, cricket often changes dramatically within a few deliveries, and this match proved exactly why the sport remains so unpredictable.

Kieron Pollard delivered the breakthrough by dismissing Breetzke for a well-made 44, triggering a stunning collapse. Romario Shepherd followed with an exceptional spell that completely tightened the scoring rate, allowing only four runs across two crucial overs while removing dangerous batters.

Tim Seifert, who looked destined to guide his side home, eventually departed for an impressive 88 from 61 balls. His dismissal shifted complete momentum back towards MI New York.

With 22 runs required from the final over, Pollard showed his vast experience by conceding only four runs while picking up another wicket. Seattle Orcas eventually finished on 162/6, handing MI New York a memorable 17-run victory.

Although Marcus Stoinis finished with a superb five-wicket haul, his brilliant bowling performance ended in disappointment. After the match, the Seattle captain admitted his team failed to execute under pressure during the closing stages of both innings.

For MI New York, however, the night belonged entirely to Tajinder Singh. His fearless batting under pressure earned him the Player of the Match award and demonstrated why lower-order contributions can often decide high-pressure T20 contests.

The victory gives MI New York valuable momentum heading into the final stages of the league, while Seattle Orcas now face a must-win situation to keep their playoff ambitions alive. With Tajinder Singh producing one of the tournament's finest innings, MI New York have announced themselves as genuine contenders for the Major League Cricket 2026 title.
