Team India Departs for Ireland and England White Ball Tour Led by Shreyas Iyer

Team India has officially begun its much-anticipated white-ball tour of Ireland and England, with the squad departing from Chennai International Airport ahead of a busy international schedule. Led by Shreyas Iyer in the T20I format, the Men in Blue will first play a two-match T20I series against Ireland before taking on England in a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series.

The tour marks India's first T20I assignment since lifting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup earlier this year and offers a glimpse into the team's preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup and the Los Angeles Olympics.

Shreyas Iyer Begins a New Era

The Ireland series marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for India's T20I setup under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. Known for his calm temperament and aggressive batting, Iyer will have the responsibility of guiding a youthful squad featuring several exciting newcomers.

India will face Ireland in Dublin on June 26 and June 28 before shifting focus to England for a five-match T20I series scheduled between July 1 and July 11.

The management views the tour as an important opportunity to build squad depth and identify players capable of becoming long-term contributors in the shortest format.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Creates History

One of the biggest talking points of the tour is the inclusion of teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

At just 15 years and 71 days old, Vaibhav has become the youngest player ever selected for the Indian men's cricket team, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 36-year-old record.

The young batter has generated tremendous excitement among cricket fans with his fearless stroke play and maturity beyond his years. His selection reflects India's commitment to investing in emerging talent and building for the future.

Fresh Faces and Key Returns

Another player attracting attention is uncapped fast bowler Prince Yadav, who earned his maiden senior T20I call-up after an impressive Indian Premier League campaign.

India also welcomes back seam-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana, who returns after successfully recovering from meniscus surgery earlier this year.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is back in the squad as well, adding variety to India's bowling attack.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been ruled out and replaced by Prasidh Krishna, ensuring the pace department remains well balanced.

Virat Kohli Set for ODI Return

Following the T20I series, India will play a three-match ODI series against England from July 14 to July 19.

The ODI squad will be captained by Shubman Gill, with Shreyas Iyer serving as vice-captain.

A major boost for Indian cricket fans is the expected return of Virat Kohli, who missed the recent ODI series against Afghanistan because of a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that his participation will depend on final fitness clearance before the series begins.

Exciting Opportunity for India's Next Generation

The Ireland and England tour represents much more than another bilateral assignment. It provides a platform for India's next generation of stars to gain valuable international experience while competing against quality opposition in challenging conditions.

With a blend of experienced leaders and fearless young talent, Team India will look to continue its white-ball dominance and build momentum ahead of major ICC tournaments in the coming years.

All eyes will now be on Shreyas Iyer and his squad as they embark on a tour that could shape the future of Indian cricket and introduce a new generation of match-winners on the international stage.
