Venkatesh Iyer Sparks Late Batting Explosion
After being asked to bat, Indore Pink Panthers suffered an early setback when Siddharth Patidar departed for just two runs. However, Atharv Joshi quickly shifted momentum with a fearless innings of 45 from only 20 balls.
Karan Tahliyani then anchored the innings with a well-constructed half-century, helping the Panthers recover from early pressure. At 131/4 in the 15th over, the innings needed a strong finish, and captain Venkatesh Iyer delivered exactly that.
Joining forces with Saransh Surana, Iyer launched a breathtaking assault on the Malwa bowlers. The pair dominated the death overs with powerful stroke play and clean hitting.
Iyer smashed 54 runs off just 22 deliveries, including six massive sixes and one boundary. Surana complemented him perfectly with an unbeaten 50 from only 17 balls, striking five sixes and three boundaries.
Their explosive partnership propelled Indore Pink Panthers to a daunting total of 229/5 in 20 overs.
Shivam Shukla Destroys Malwa Chase
Chasing a challenging target of 230, Malwa Stallions started positively despite losing Aryan Deshmukh early.
Ansh Yadav and Sachin Vishwakarma stitched together a valuable 55-run partnership to keep the chase alive. Yadav scored a brisk 31 off 19 balls, while Vishwakarma contributed 47 from 32 deliveries.
Just when the Stallions appeared to be building momentum, Shivam Shukla turned the match completely in favour of the Panthers.
The talented bowler ripped through the middle order with a brilliant spell, picking up five crucial wickets. His consistent breakthroughs prevented Malwa from establishing any meaningful partnerships during the middle overs.
The Stallions slipped from a competitive position to 144/7, effectively ending their hopes of completing the chase.
Parth Sahani Fights Lone Battle
Despite the collapse, Parth Sahani refused to surrender. The experienced batter played an entertaining knock of 54 from 28 deliveries and attempted to keep Malwa Stallions in the contest.
His aggressive batting delighted the spectators, but the required run rate continued to rise rapidly. Without enough support from the other end, Sahani's efforts ultimately went in vain.
Malwa Stallions finished on 198/9, falling 31 runs short of the target.
Venkatesh Iyer Reflects On Important Victory
Following the match, Venkatesh Iyer expressed satisfaction with securing the team's first victory but admitted there was still room for improvement.
The captain felt the Panthers could have added another 20 runs to their total and also pointed out lapses in the field. Taking responsibility for a dropped catch himself, Iyer emphasized the importance of improving standards moving forward.
He also shared that his batting innings was carefully planned and that once he settled at the crease, he focused on targeting specific areas of the ground.
With momentum finally on their side, the Pink Panthers will now look to build on this impressive performance when they face Rewa Jaguars in their next MPL 2026 fixture.
