West Indies vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I Highlights: Shamar Joseph’s 5-Wicket Magic Powers WI To Series Win

West Indies sealed the T20I series against Sri Lanka with a thrilling 5-wicket victory in the third and final match at Sabina Park, Kingston. The night belonged to Shamar Joseph, whose fiery spell completely changed the game and earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. The Caribbean pacer ripped through Sri Lanka’s batting lineup with a sensational 5-wicket haul, helping West Indies restrict the visitors to 169 all out in 20 overs.

Sri Lanka started aggressively with Pathum Nissanka attacking in the powerplay, but the momentum shifted quickly once Shamar Joseph entered the attack. The young fast bowler dismissed key batters including Pathum Nissanka, Pavan Rathnayake, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, and Dushmantha Chameera. Despite a fighting 43 from Dunith Wellalage and useful contributions from Wanindu Hasaranga and Kamil Mishara, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at crucial moments. West Indies bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, with support from Akeal Hosein, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, and Roston Chase.

Chasing 170, West Indies had an early setback when captain Shai Hope departed for a duck. However, Shimron Hetmyer injected momentum with a quickfire 32, while Rovman Powell played a powerful middle-order cameo filled with boundaries and sixes. The real turning point came through the calm and composed innings from Sherfane Rutherford, who remained unbeaten on 54 off 40 balls. His controlled aggression ensured the hosts stayed ahead in the chase despite Sri Lanka’s spin attack trying to pull things back.

The final flourish came from Jason Holder, who smashed 21 runs from just 5 balls, including three massive sixes that completely stunned the Sri Lankan bowlers. Holder’s explosive finish helped West Indies chase down the target in just 19.4 overs, sealing an exciting win in front of the home crowd. While Wanindu Hasaranga bowled brilliantly and picked up two wickets, Sri Lanka’s bowling attack struggled to contain runs in the death overs.
