Allied Bank Stallions vs Lake City Panthers | Match 9 | Bahria Town Champions Cup 2024

Saim Ayub played a brilliant innings of 156, marking his fourth List-A century, as Lake City Panthers defeated Allied Bank Stallions by 20 runs on Saturday night at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. Chasing a target of 345, Stallions were bowled out for 324 in 49.3 overs.

Tayyab Tahir's century and Hussain Talat's half-century, along with their 157-run fourth-wicket partnership, kept the Stallions in the game. Zaman Khan, batting at No. 9, added late drama with a blistering 16-ball 42, featuring six sixes and a four, but Amad Butt dismissed him with Stallions needing 21 runs off the last five balls.

Earlier, the Panthers' innings was set up by a 138-run opening partnership between Saim, standing in as captain for Shadab Khan, and Azan Awais. Azan scored 51 off 77 balls before falling to Abrar Ahmed. Usman Khan then smashed a quick 75 off 47 balls, adding 116 runs with Saim for the second wicket. Saim’s superb knock, which included 13 fours and seven sixes, ended in the 46th over as Zaman Khan claimed the second of his four wickets. The Panthers finished their innings at 344-7 after losing five wickets in the last 43 balls.

For Stallions, Zaman took four wickets, while Jahandad Khan and Abrar Ahmed took one each.

In their chase, Stallions lost their top three—Mohammad Haris (19), Shan Masood (8), and Babar Azam (5)—in quick succession. Tayyab Tahir and Hussain Talat then stabilized the innings with scores of 109 and 63, respectively, before Mubasir Khan broke their stand in the 35th over, halting their momentum.

Adil Amin (23) and Jahandad Khan (24) chipped in but the Stallions were in trouble at 272-8. A 52-run ninth-wicket stand between Zaman and Abrar Ahmed (9 not out) brought them close, but they eventually fell 20 runs short.

Mubasir Khan (3-77), Mohammad Hasnain (2-49), and Ali Raza (2-54) were the standout bowlers for the Panthers, while Amad Butt and Arafat Minhas took one wicket each.
