Ishan Kishan, Member, Indian Cricket Team addressed a press conference at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi after the 1st T20I against South Africa

“Initially we knew that the wicket's not easy to get going and it will be tough for the batsman coming after me like the first down or the second down and it will be difficult for them to get going so my plan was to just target the loose balls because we need to in T20 game the power play was also very important and we needed to put pressure on the bowlers so that was my plan to take one ball at a time we need to give respect to the good balls as they are also very experienced bowlers Nortje and Rabada they have done so well for their country but my plan was to just keep them in back foot keep playing my shots so that they are also thinking and they move their line in length”

“I think If we lose a game there's not it's not because of one player we need to address what mistakes we did with the bowling department or if it's the fielding department but it's never the one player who you know makes us lose the match so we'll figure out everything, I know catches do win matches but at the same time we need to plan a little better with our bowling department also so that we can come stronger in the next”

“Right now miller is in a great form and I know it was not easy because the boundaries are small the pitch was getting better it was not like the first innings how we batted the ball was seeming the ball was not coming in the bat properly there was double bounce but in the second inning it was not the same way so I think bowlers were trying yeah we need to address what mistakes we did in this game we'll come back obviously we'll plan something for these two because I know miller if he gets going it's very hard to stop him and at the same time it makes easier for the other batsman also he's on the other end so I think that's what happened and they batted really well they played amazing shots they we did bowl them outside off also and they contributed those ball into six runs so we need to figure out individually also what mistakes we hold it as a fielding unit it can be anything and I think it's all part of the game they are also very world-class players so we have to give credit to them also”

"Whenever I get my opportunity how I have to prove myself or do well for the team so I focus more on that about my process about my thing what I have to do yeah they have done so much you know they have scored so many runs for our country I can't ask them do you know to drop them and make me play in the first place yeah I’ll keep doing my thing it's up to selectors or other coaches whatever they think but my job is to you know just whenever I get my chance I’ll give my best"
