For the 2024 season, each franchise must have 19 players in their registered squad. This consists of:
17 ‘normal’ squad players (pre-signings, retained players, and players picked at the auction). Each team is allowed a maximum of 7 overseas players in this squad.
1 Wildcard player, who can be signed anytime until December 30, 2024. The wildcard can be either an overseas or South African player and does not count towards the salary cap.
1 Rookie player, who must be a South African under 22 years of age at the time of the auction and must not have been previously contracted to SA20.
