Day 2 saw some early wickets fall to Sri Lankan pacers, but later on, England's batsmen rallied. Having lost their top three batsmen without making much of an impact, England were in trouble, but Joe Root and Harry Brook formed a crucial alliance to salvage their innings. Harry Brook hit a crucial fifty while Joe Root was removed at 42.
