India A secured a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in their Group B clash of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. After dismissing UAE for a modest 107 in 16.5 overs, India A chased down the target with ease, reaching 111-3 in just 10.5 overs.
UAE Struggle After Opting to Bat
The UAE won the toss and chose to bat, but their decision backfired as they lost wickets in quick succession. The innings got off to a rocky start with Mayank Rajesh Kumar dismissed for a duck on the very first ball by Anshul Kamboj. Aryansh Sharma followed soon after, bowled by Vaibhav Arora for 1, leaving UAE at 11-2.
Despite small contributions from Nilansh Keswani (5) and Rahul Chopra (5), UAE's middle order crumbled. Rasikh Salam and Ramandeep Singh wreaked havoc, with Salam picking up 3 wickets and Singh claiming 2, while Abhishek Sharma and Nehal Wadhera chipped in with crucial wickets. Basil Hameed (22) and Syed Haider Shah (43) were the only UAE batsmen to offer any real resistance, but the team was eventually bowled out for just 107 runs in 16.5 overs.
India A’s Clinical Chase
India A’s chase got off to a shaky start with Prabhsimran Singh dismissed for 8 in the very first over by Omid Rahman. However, Abhishek Sharma (58 off 24 balls) played a blistering knock to put India firmly in control. His innings was laced with five boundaries and four towering sixes, providing India with the perfect platform for a comfortable chase.
Although skipper Tilak Varma (21) and Abhishek Sharma fell in quick succession, Nehal Wadhera (6*) and Ayush Badoni (12*) ensured there were no further hiccups. India A chased down the target in just 10.5 overs, winning by 7 wickets and further solidifying their position in Group B.
Key Performances
India A will now look to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming matches, while UAE will aim to bounce back from this heavy defeat.
